Just in time for the height of the footy season, this exhibition turns away from the centre bounce to celebrate the action taking place around the boundaries of national football code.

With images of hopeful young indigenous players training in the desert, to cheer squad stalwarts supporting their teams under drizzling Melbourne skies, this exhibition provides a range of perspectives on the sport and its social contexts.  Connecting the world of footy with the raw emotion and eccentric personalities of the game these photographers grasp the wider social significance of the game and reveal the passion, spirit and vitality of local communites.

Grant Hobson explores masculinity and mateship.  Paul Dunn documents the Collingwood Cheer Squad and the passionate theatre of spectatorship.  Jesse Marlow celebrates the importance of the game to indigenous Australians.  Donna Bailey exposes the unmediated passion for the game found in the faces of her son's under-twelves team and Rennie Ellis takes us back to the style and culture of football in the 70's

Competitors tackle a 15km run on the rugged 4WD track following around the lake and beside the Upper King River.

Upon returning to the lake, competitors jump in the kayak for three laps of the lake, 12km should give them arms of steel.

Then a ride following the King River to Whitfield, a solid but scenic climb up the hill to Whitlands.

As a final test competitors run the 3km entrance to Power's Lookout to reach the finish line and enjoy the magnificent views of the King Valley below.

The Three Choirs Festival will celebrate 25 years of choral singing in the Northeast with concerts in Wangaratta and Wodonga. The Three Choirs Festival is a collaboration of the three principal choirs of Albury, Beechworth and Wangaratta, amalgamating biennially to present large-scale musical works that are rarely, if ever, presented to audiences in regional Australia. This year, 2010, is the Silver Anniversary of the Festival. Offered are the perennial favourite, Carol Orff’s Carmina Burana, and the regional première of Leonard Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. These highly rhythmical works are complemented by Handel’s Zadok the Priest. Concert goers will hear not only the massed vocal forces that these works demand, but also a full battery of percussion instruments and two pianos. Members of the Murray Conservatorium Orchestra join the choirs in the performance of Zadok the Priest. Albury’s Murray Conservatorium Choir, the Beechworth Singers and the Wangaratta Choristers welcome audiences to this splendid event, confident that the exhilarating music experienced will stay with them for a long some.

Selected from the extensive dress collection created by Bev Scott.  A New Dress celebrates the identity of this extraordinary woman as a mother in a traditional family and how a hobby became an important part of 'making do' on the family farm.  48 Garments worn by 9 family members to 126 significant family and community occasions over the last 36 years, provide a nostalgic and evocative reminder for those who lived in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Bev Scott's story is reflective of many farming women who sustained an ongoing commitment to family sewing, both through necessity and also their need for creative expression.  The collection shows a pride of workmanship through the loving care in the selection of fabrics and the meticulous finish of the garments.  It is also a learning opportunity for students to witness the ongoing rotation of fashion styles and techniques.

A New Dress is presented by Showcase Wangaratta.

Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre and Wangaratta Arts Council Inc. are together pleased to present a spring series of concerts by local pianists. We have called the twilight concerts Steinway on Stage because the pianists will play the Rural City of Wangaratta's magnificent grand piano; and the audience will also be seated on the stage of the Alpine MDF Theatre. Our winter series of performances were very popular - so booking early for this spring series is strongly encouraged.

Tim Wong will be replacing Jan & Kurt Wagner in this performance

The next concert in the spring series of Steinway on Stage is on 20 October when Rory Beel and Tim Wong will perform. Rory and Tim participated in master classes with concert pianist Cameron Roberts in Wangaratta in March.

Please note that this performance is General Admission as the audience will be seated on the stage.

Performance starts: 6pm Running time: 60 minutes (no interval)

Celebrating the 1st birthday of the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, local artist Gitta Amor presents an exhibition of photographs documenting the construction of this iconic building.

"These 20 photos are a selection from the thousands I took to record the story of our newest treasure, the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre.  Through this adventure I gained so much respect of the huge jigsaw the building is.   ... I am so pleased to be part of the very long journey which now sets the scene for a richer artistic life for our community." - Gitta Amor 2010

Start 7:30pm
The Cave To The Rave takes us from the earthen floor of prehistoric man to the polished parquetry of modern dance with a few side steps and knee slides along the way. It's a dance class for comedy beginners, intermediate and advanced. By the end of the session you will have learnt that it's not a good idea to crowd surf at a wiggles concert; understand why women dance in a circle around their handbags and learn that asking someone to dance in a lift is awkward even if there is music playing. Damian's highly choreographed tributes suspiciously funded fringe movement ensembles and 80's film clips and will have you laughing and wanting to dance with him. Make an orderly line.

Promac Productions Australia are delighted to return with their critically acclaimed production of ... Whispering... Jack & The Beanstalk

Like all Promac's pantomimes this one is slightly off the wall as Jack our lead character is a mad John Farnham fan and can't stop singing his songs all round the house .. much to the annoyance of the Giant ...

Wonderful songs and an excellent script skilfully and professionally acted by the Promac cast.

With a fantastic spin on this classic panto that brings it into the year 2010, children of all ages will have a great experience in the theatre during the school holidays.

Circus Trick Tease is a raunchy, raucous and entertaining collection of misfits including a maladjusted sensitive strongman, his neurotic femme fatale and their internationally acclaimed super star. Together, they play out their chaotic roles in dazzling displays of acrobatics, precarious balances, gratuitous headstands and a human skipping rope. Watch as this tight-knit unit comes undone and backstage antics erupt into recrimination & full blown fisticuffs. The only thing that holds them together is an understanding that the show must go on. Circus Trick Tease takes elements of traditional circus and incorporates comedy, satire, drama, love, and of course jaw dropping tricks of strength, poise and flexibility. The group will dazzle any audience as they balance effortlessly on each other?s hands, head and feet. They strive to overcome the barriers of gender, race, ego and ability while maintaining the principle that the show must always go on. 'You will walk away amazed, chin to the floor and wanting to see more. This show truly is a tease.' Adelaide Advertiser 'A multi-dimensioned work oozing talent, humour and pure entertainment.'
