There are a number of excellent camping spots alongside mountain streams and rivers or in glorious bushland where you can relax and unwind. A few suggestions include:
- Ovens River spots - Ovens Billabongs, River Road Reserve, Frosts and Pioneer Bridges.
- Warby Ranges - Wenhams camping ground.
- King River - Edi Cutting.
There are no bookings taken for these sites - it is first in, first served!

Other important things to remember include:
- Keep campfires small and ensure they are totally extinguished before leaving.
- No fires (including camp stoves/ovens) are to be lit on Total Fire Ban days.
- If you are planning to fish, make sure you have a valid licence and abide by all rules.
- Be wary of track conditions - excess rain may make some tracks unpassable.
- Do not set up camp underneath tress as they may drop limbs.
- Do not camp on Private Property.
- Leave gates as you found them ie/ open or closed.
- It is always a good idea to let someone know where you are going and when you intend on returning.
- Public showers are available in Apex Park 24 hours a day.
- A handy number is the Victorian Bushfire Information Line 1800 240 667.
A number of camping stores are located in Wangaratta if you have forgotten an essential item.
