Final year students of Graphic Arts and Visual Arts from Wangaratta's Goulburn Ovens Institute of TAFE (GOTAFE) will be showcasing their talents at the Gallery once again in November.

This annual exhibition is always a diverse, exciting display, and the gallery team are looking forward to seeing what the students have come up with this year!  GOTAFe provides important opportunities for tertiary studies in creative arts; Exit 08 is a chance for prospective students to see what is on offer and for others to appreciate the depth of artistic talent being nurtured within Wangaratta.

Following on from last year's successful series of VCE exhibitions by the high schools of Wangaratta, the Gallery has decided to hold a combined VCE exhibition in 2008 to coincide with GOTAFE's annual Exit exhibition of graduating students' work.  Holding both exhibitions concurrently will give visitors an opportunity to see the work or artist 'emerging' from both secondary and tertiary institutions.

Gallery staff are working with VCE teachers from Wangaratta High School, Galen College and Cathedral College to select the best works in all media from each school, with approximately 20-30 of the best works from each school on display.

Emerge presents an unprecedented opportunity to see stunnign artworks produced by our local VCE students, don't miss it!

A vibrant five piece band plays French inspired music at the Vine Hotel. Bookings at Disclocation 03 5721 4594.

On the Beat - Against Cancer will see teams of Victoria Police members walk and ride for seven days between Wodonga and Melbourne to raise money for the My Room Childrens Cancer Centre at the Royal Children's Hospital.

12midday to 3pm will see childrens rides and carnival games from Silvers Circus, music from One Eyed Jacks, the police display truck, barbecue food, icecreams and snow cones. 

$10 entry for a family, regardless of number of children.  

The Parents Club will sell sausages, hamburgers and drinks.   There will be a lucky door prize, spinning wheel and music.  

Free children's entertainment includes a jumping castle, pony rides, face painting, footy handball, races, gumboot throwing and tug of war.

The Salvation Army's annual Xmas Toy Run is on again. Departure time is 9.00am from Apex Park. Enjoy 158km ride (or drive if you have no motorbike) through beautiful NE Vic and contribute to a worthy cause. Unwrapped new toys, canned or packaged food greatly appreciated and will be distributed by the Salvation Army.

Enjoyed a BBQ and cold drink (small charge applies) at Apex Park at the conclusion of the ride with an auction of goods donated by local businesses with all money raised going to Salvation Army's Xmas appeal.
