Aboriginal Ceremony at Marmungun Rock – to honour Wangaratta’s 2019 Citizen of Year

The annual ‘Marmungun Rock Ceremony’ will recognise the achievements of Wangaratta’s Citizen of the Year for 2018.
Marmungun Rock is a local honour roll, it is a place where we can honour local people who are out there every day doing great things for our community. Explains Chris Thorne, one of the coordinators of this year’s event.
During the ceremony the Rural City of Wangaratta’s Citizen of the Year will be recognised and honoured with the unveiling of their hand print – carved into solid granite.
National Reconciliation Week runs from May 27 – June 3 each year.
Wangaratta community are invited to attend the Marmungun Rock Ceremony from 11:00am to 12:30pm, on Sunday 27 May 2018, at the Marmungun Rock – Apex Park, Wangaratta.
A sausage sizzle is provided after the ceremony and guests will be encouraged to take advantage ofthe Bullawah Cultural Trail, with self-guided and self-paced tours of the trail that showcases Bpangerang Dreamtime stories.
