Strada Alberata is a scenic gravel cycling route through the King Valley, named after the native trees and shrubs that line much of the journey. Combining quiet country roads with picturesque rural landscapes, this ride showcases the natural beauty and character of the region. Covering 43.2 kilometres with approximately 475 metres of elevation gain, the route consists of around 60 per cent gravel roads and 40 per cent sealed backroads. It is ideally suited to intermediate gravel cyclists looking to build confidence and extend their range on mixed surfaces. Highlights include the enjoyable gravel sections along Edi-Meadow Creek Road and the lightly travelled native forest stretch on Pettifers Lane. The route concludes with a fast and rewarding ride back towards Whitfield via Moyhu-Meadow Creek Road. The ride starts and finishes at the Whitfield Bicycle Hub, where water and public toilets are available. Along the way, cyclists can enjoy quiet roads, rolling countryside and the renowned food and wine region of the King Valley. Riders should be aware that road and track conditions can change without notice, and temporary closures may occur. It is recommended that cyclists carry or have access to additional mapping and navigation information before setting out.
