Milawa Gourmet Region

Australia’s first official ‘gourmet region’ is centred around the townships of Milawa, Oxley, Tarrawingee, Markwood and Whorouly.

The Milawa Gourmet Region invites you to 'come, discover, stay, eat and drink' at one of Australia's favourite food and wine epicentres.

The region is overflowing with things to taste, explore and experience you’ll feel as if you’re strolling across one big charcuterie board. With everything from apiaries to dairies and olive farms, it will certainly take more than a few days to discover every corner of the Milawa Gourmet Region. Each eatery truly makes this a magnet for food lovers and their friends.

Brown Brothers Cellar Door in Milawa is regarded internationally for its award-winning wines, while cheese fiends will be in heaven with a visit to Milawa Cheese Company.

However, there is so much more to this region than food and wine. Experience the region like never before on a hot air balloon adventure above valley vineyards and fertile farmlands. Or stay grounded and keep active as you explore the many farm gates, wineries and providores on two wheels – the Wangaratta to Milawa section of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail includes a picturesque 5km bike ride that’s accessible to all.
