Milawa Gourmet Region

Milawa Gourment Region

The first official ‘gourmet region’ in Australia – the Milawa Gourmet Region invites you to 'Come, discover, stay, eat and drink' at one of Australia's favourite food and wine epicentres, centred around the small townships of Milawa, Oxley, Tarrawingee, Markwood and Whorouly.

The region is overflowing with things to taste, explore and experience. From the local apiaries to mustard, cheese, olives and wines – you would certainly need more than one day to discover all the farm gates, delicatessens, providores, restaurants, food stores, markets and wineries that make the Milawa Gourmet Region the foodie Mecca that it is.

Brown Brothers Cellar Door, located in Milawa is well known both locally and internationally for its exceptional, award winning wines and for the wonderous creations served in their restaurant or tapas bar.  Cheese lovers will be in heaven with a visit to Milawa Cheese Company and Tolpuddle Farm.

However, there is so much more to this region than food and wine, experience the region like never before on a hot air balloon adventure above valley vineyards and fertile farmlands boasting alpine vistas.  Or stay grounded and keep active as you explore the many farm gates, wineries and providores on two wheels taking on the Wangaratta to Milawa section of the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail, which includes an easy 5km picturesque ride from Milawa to Oxley or vise versa .
